No Barriers

I seldom get the chance to talk to my friends and keep them up-to-date with what's going on with my life... well, this is it. My online journal. Yah, another personal blog, just exactly what the world needs now. Let's be realistic, it's cheaper than overseas calls. Less tiring than novel-like emails.

H4H
Habitat for Humanity. It is my first time to participate in this cause. After signing the waiver, I immediately started to think of what I can contribute for the house construction. Hmmm... I think I can help digging for the foundation, paint some walls, mix some cement. I am so excited to start the work.

When we got to the site, which by the way is around an hour and a half travel from our place, we already felt the hot sun and how hard things will be. Before embarking the challenging tasks we are about to take, we prayed for the safety of everyone who are working and staying in the Rizal site.

It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. It was tough, and with heat of the sun hitting our backs...It made things more challenging. We started by transferring hollow blocks to the building site. Then, we tried digging & shoveling for the 60cm deep foundation. And then we went to another area where we helped by transferring the gravel-sand-cement mix. It was heavy, especially if we carrying a whole bucket of the mix to a not-so-near place. So, the girls decided to form a line and transfer the bucket from one person to another... Yup, this the 'Bayanihan' in the habitat. :)

It was a fun and fulfilling day. I got a chance to be part of a good cause, spend more time with my friends from work and get a free workout! :)
